About me

I've worn many hats in life—I've been an academic, an artist, and, more recently, a nurse. I like to think that my positive traits come in a good balance: warmth, gentleness, compassion, creativity, insight, and intelligence.

I have a deep background in Buddhism, but also have an interest in and appreciation for Advaita / non-duality, and many other religions and spiritual traditions, and don't consider myself linked to or limited to just one.

I've thought about becoming an ordained monk to dedicate myself to the spiritual quest, but maybe this—sitting with people and sharing my self—is my real calling in life.

My journey

Around 2009, in the course of meditation, I experienced an enduring transformation, which changed my view of the world and of myself. It gave me a taste of a bigger picture of what life is, and an enduring sense of peace and freedom from some

aspect of what we might call the "small self."  (It also gave me an abiding interest in working, spiritually and analytically, with issues surrounding "selfhood.")

That was absolutely not the end of the journey for me, and since then, there have been all kinds of ups and downs, insights, mistakes, and sometimes, further transformation.

A person who finishes climbing a mountain can look back at the path up, reflect on their own journey, and tell other climbers how to wisely get to the top and avoid some of the pitfalls they had to endure. I haven't finished climbing the mountain yet, but even so, I feel I have something helpful to share. I hope I can benefit you with my presence and with what I know.
